Déjà Vu
My friend Sam Gorena spent a big part of the last two years or so developing Déjà Vu, a play that explores the places memory can take us by having actors share their personal reminiscences with the audience. Carefully engineered around spontaneity, the play is a sensory conversation between the performers and the audience; a certain memory told during the show may trigger a memory from an audience member's own past, eliciting a certain state of emotion, and so on. The show delves far from just telling a story and makes the audience feel situations along with the characters, an interaction that leaves the audience a pleasurable nostalgia in the end.
Sam invited me to take pictures of the show. I hope they trigger some memories in you.
